Father's Day Carrie Style

I worked 8 hours today and I still had a great father's day.

Several years ago Carrie bought me a matted print depicting the Savior Jesus Christ teaching the Woman of Samaria by Simon Dewey, my favorite religious Latter-Day Saint/Christian Artist . (New Testament, John 4). We planned one day to have it framed.
Today, that day finally came. I was so excited to see it, even after all this time. What a great father's day present.

As father's day gifts go, that one was great and would have been more than enough. Carrie however, is an over-achiever. The other day she was scanning a bunch of pictures onto the computer. When I asked what all that was about she said, "Oh, just a bunch of old photos. I thought I'd scan them and save them to disk." Oh, ok was all I said. I didn't think of anything more of it.

To my surprise, Carrie was making a powerpoint slide show of our marriage and family, including captions and music. Nothing could have been better. I bawled like a baby. For those of you who don't know, I'm the biggest sap there is. I'm way too in touch with my emotional side, which can be both good and bad, depending on if the situation is good, like being empathetic if someone is going through a hard time or bad, someone is giving YOU a hard time.

Anyhow, needless to say I loved the slideshow. The songs she chose was "you're still the one" by Shania(sp?)Twain, "In my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride, a song that I love because it describes how I feel towards our daughters. (ironic that both songs are by Country singers, since I very rarely like country, but in these cases they are the exceptions. And, she also chose "goodnight my angel" by Billy Joel, which I used to sing to Leah when I was rocking her to sleep when she was a baby.

Carrie also made one of my favorite dinners that she makes, enchilada casserole. We also had mint chocolate chip ice cream with brownies and hot fudge.

SO, Father's day...who could ask for more?

I love my Wife and Daughters. I'm so lucky that they are my family.
