can't sleep

This is the the problem with working a 3 to 11 swing shift full time at Logan River Academy. (By the way it's a school/treatment center for troubled teens.)

So, on the days I work I get off at (as I said) 11 pm. Unfourtunately, I'm not one of the lucky ones who can walk right in the door and crash into near-coma like sleep. I need to unwind. This often means that I'm not to bed and sleeping until 12:30am-1:30am.

To compound the situation; this also means that on my days off, my body just doesn't want to operate on any other schedule. I should be able to get to bed earlier, right?
In a perfect world, but my world is far from perfect.

So here I am, wide awake at 1 am on my "day off." I work tomorrow, I work on fathers day, and I'll work 3-11pm until Wednesday night. It's 1am and I'm not even close to ready to be able to sleep.

This wouldn't be so tragic if I was single or if I didn't have kids; (please don't misunderstand, I'm not longing for the single life or a childless marriage) however when you add a 16 month old precious angel named Hannah to the equation, who, like Marry Poppins is "practically perfect in every way!" Except, she's an insomniac just like her old man. Add to that a frazzled wife and mother in my best friend and eternal companion, my wife and bride Carrie Lisa Taylor, and my also fabulous toddler Leah who is an Autistic handful.

So what am I trying to say by all of this? It just doesn't work well for my family and I for me to be sleep deprived. If I need a nap or two in the morning or early afternoon, Carrie gets hammered (and I DO mean hammered) via childcare with our darling but very high-maintance daughters. I need to be fully rested, when the Rooster's up and about, not an absentee slumbering father or zombie-like couch potato incapable of doing much of anything other than grunting from the rocking chair when asked to be a father to his children and a husband to his wife.

Do you see my dilemma?

Better get going and try to see if I can catch some Z's

peace out yo

Thank you for that lengthy explanation of why you should be sleeping but weren't. And Happy Father's Day. I think I'll go eat some more of your brownies and ice ream.
